Product is totally as described, strong, delivers power without heating up and stayed supple and flexible even below freezing, used for a snow blower throughout New England's 2008-2009 winter season.
With vinyl cords I have experienced sever coiling of the cord after some use because of turning the mower from one side to the other in normal use. Thus far though, in ordinary use I find it just as ornery with interlooping as the vinyl type.
Year's ago when a 16-gauge without a ground was specified for this use, there was no trouble like I've experienced with 14-gauge three-wire cords. Although it should be lighter in weight, it doesn't appear to be.
I purchased the 14-gauge Coleman Cable Polar/Solar 100-ft. I purchased this particular cord to avoid this condition thinking maybe the wires were wound differently than with vinyl cords.
cord for an electric lawn mower.
At this time I've had insufficient time to experience whether this will happen with this cord sheathed in Neoprene.
Its surface is particularly good for snow/ice surfaces (slides and doesn't stick even if wet). It's lighter and tangles less than a "typical" power cord of its size and length, but make no mistake -- it's still heavy and requires handling.
And, this was with 88-105-degree heat and SC sun UV rays deteriorating the plastic coating. Coupled this with an electric mower that's still going strong, but the yellow cord was no match for Yellow Lab puppy who found this (unplugged) "chew toy" in the garage. Still, it took 2 years before the cord began to unravel and separate from the female connector.
I am very disappointed in the product and how poorly Amazon fights for its customers. Amazon will not give a refund or exchange for the product since it was outside of the 30 days, even though this was the first use. It had not caught on anything and it was not near any sharp objects. Think twice before making big purchases on here outside of books and DVD's. For the price, I would not expect this product to split on the first use. I bought this to go with the snow blower I bought on the same day.
The FIRST time I used this, the power cord casing split to reveal the inner insulation. In response to my complaint about this product, I got a form email and a suggestion to go to the manufacturer. It didn't snow enough to use the snowblower and power cord for over 30 days after I purchased the set. I called the manufacturer (after much searching for the contact information) and they told me that since I bought it through Amazon, I would have to return it through Amazon. I hope Amazon considers adjusting their customer service form emails to at least make it look like the person sending it actually read the original email to them about the situation. It appeared very sturdy as it is designed for outdoor use.
It split just from lengthening the power cord to give more slack for using the snow blower, somehow, the cord twisted and split.
